Our Mission

The mission of the Dr. Abraham P. Cano Freshman Academy Information Literacy Center (ILC) is to ensure that the school community are effective users of information and to instill a lifelong love of reading and learning.

Our Goal

The goal of the Information Literacy Center (ILC) is to help all students become life-long learners by providing services, technology and resources to enhance patron usage and effective classroom instruction.

ILC Hours of Operation

Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


Besides the ever-growing collection of fiction and nonfiction print and e-books, the ILC offers desktop computers, laptops, tables, collaboration stations, Wi-Fi, as well as printers and scanners available for your next school project. The first two printed pages are free of charge; however, additional pages are $.10 each.

Destiny Library Catalog (card catalog), MackinVia (electronic databases), and E-Books can be accessed by clicking on the icons in the ILC Virtual Library page.  Staff and students are able to access catalog, databases and electronic books from school and home.
